Privacy policy

Last updated August 11, 2026

studyTorium ranks study spots by comparison. To do that it keeps an account for you and the things you choose to post. This page says exactly what that covers, in the order you'd ask.

What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that provider, via Firebase Authentication. We never see or store a password. Apple lets you hide your email; that works here.
  • Profile details you add. Username, bio, campus, and whether your account is private.
  • Things you post. Rankings, study sessions and their photos, reviews, comments, likes, follows, check-ins, and reports you file about other content.
  • Location, per request. When you allow location access and use a nearby search, your coordinates are sent with that request to sort results by distance. We do not build a location history; the coordinates are not stored with your account.

What we don't collect

There is no third-party analytics, no advertising SDK, and no tracking pixel anywhere in the app or on this site. Fonts are self-hosted, so a font network is not told which page you opened. We do not sell data, to anyone.

Where it lives

Data is stored on Google Cloud (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run), which processes it on our behalf. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication. Place records come from OpenStreetMap and are not personal data.

Who can see what

Your rankings, sessions and comments are visible to other users — that is the product. If you set your account private, your posts and lists are visible only to followers you approve. Your email is never shown to other users. Content you post may be screened by automated moderation and reviewed if someone reports it.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile → Delete account. That permanently removes your profile, rankings, sessions, photos, comments, likes, follows and notifications. It is not a deactivation; there is no recovery.

Children

studyTorium is for university students and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child is using it, report the account in the app and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and its date. For questions or requests, see the support page.
